Since 1904, the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children in Canton has provided vital care to children and young adults with physical disabilities and medical conditions. The Healey-Driscoll Administration's budget proposes closing this unique facility which would result in the layoffs of over 100 AFSCME Local 1517 members and the displacement of 36 of our most vulnerable residents.

Pappas has offered essential educational, recreational, and social opportunities for generations of students with severe medical conditions and fosters an inclusive community for physical, emotional, and social growth.

Simply attempting to relocate these specialized services is not a viable solution. The care provided at PRHC—spanning medical treatment, therapies, education, peer interaction, and inclusion—cannot be replicated elsewhere.
